Our Little Lions Program is more than just kicking and punching.
At ATC, our Little Lion philosophy has been proven successful for many years. It is extremely important that children gain the skills necessary to do their best throughout their lives. Children who begin to learn listening and focusing skills in the early childhood years, are often more successful later in life. Attaining a strong emotional foundation sets the way for each child to reach his/ her full potential.
While classroom lessons using positive reinforcement and consistency with boundaries and rules are somewhat effective on their own, the best way to have the children remember what they are learning through martial arts, is to have them practice outside the studio. In other words, at ATC, we consider it of vital importance that parents work with the instructors to reinforce manners, boundaries, discipline, focus, consideration of others, perseverance, and other positive social skills learned at ATC.
In our society, it is important for future generations to maintain a certain level of cultural etiquette. Unfortunately, as our lives become more complex or busier in this rapidly developing world, we, as a society, at times are prone to neglect those valuable social lessons which our children need in order to effectively function in tomorrow’s world.
Basic courtesies and their successful effects are often lost in the daily struggles to “get things done.” An organized, polite and considerate child is far more likely to succeed than a child who has less than the level of etiquette deemed appropriate by society. At ATC, we stress manners, thoughtfulness of others and respect as part of each lesson. When learned in early childhood, these values are more likely to be cemented in a child’s mind as each child grows through the Junior Program and into adulthood.
As children enter middle childhood and the ATC Junior program (about 6 ½ or 7 years old), those who have participated in the Little Lions program are often far better prepared to receive the more advanced information. The former Little Lion students are better able to focus, listen, persevere, perform basic kicks, punches and stances and are able to memorize movement patterns more readily. Due to having these advantages, these students tend to have more confidence, enabling them to develop into leaders both in this environment and others. The leadership qualities are stressed through all activities in order to help today’s children grow into the leaders of tomorrow.
Our program helps develop a positive leader for a better tomorrow.
We do not teach violence we teach life self defense.
